Paper

What do you get when you put value to a piece of paper. 10 seconds, go!

"Money".

Strictly speaking, it's a blend of 25% cotton and 75% linen that makes up the currency paper. What could have been done by man himself that has made this "money", his own creation, so important, so fundamental that lives literally depend on it? I suppose this is quite an open ended question in itself. Personally, my answer would be choice.

It was definitely a gift when man was made with the freedom to desire and elect. Then, came a problem of having too much to choose from and with everyone else wanting pretty much the same thing, came another big problem. Thus "money" was born, a common denominator that could make things right.

The world aged, and "money" grew up into a big taiko, gathering more lackeys by the day. People nowadays do everything in his name. Eat, work, play, lose weight, sing, dance, kill, wage war, lie, betray...you name it.

I'd be lying if I were to say money is beneath me, because it isn't. I depend on money as much as the person next to me. It's got an undeniable grip on a lot of things, and it would be unwise to be defiant and say no to this concept.

See, I always thought that since "money" was a concept concocted out of the freedom to choose, why then must we sacrifice so much to obtain it?

Here's a quote from the movie Boiler Room:

"Anybody who tells you money is the root of all evil doesn't f****** have any. "

Oh, and another one:

"They say money can't buy happiness? Look at the f****** smile on my face. Ear to ear, baby."

Ok, jangan marah ye kawan-kawan :)
Main-main je.

'Freedom of choice' came about because Man got sick of bartering single items and wanted more variation. So a 'medium of exhange' came to be; Money.

But overtime we began wanting more. Most time, we wanted things we didn't even need, hence the need behind huge corporations cropping up despoiling the earth and requiring people to work and sacrifice themselves for more Money so they can buy more shit they don't need!

Our necessities moved from 'food, shelter and clothing' to 'transportation, communication and entertainment'. Our freedom of choosing what we wanted gave us this sense of power and even happiness.

But we fail to understand 'Happiness'. 'Happiness'isn't something you receive when you buy something. 'Happiness' is something that you must give to another before you can receive it yourself.

'Happiness' comes from helping a man on a wheelchair up into a bus when he has fallen down. That kind of 'Happiness', Money has no hold over!
