After years and years of being a scholar of knowledge, I have yet to understand my tendency to fall asleep in classes. Destructive yet pleasurable, dozing off unknowingly is quite the nasty package wrapped in colorful ribbons of deceit.
All it takes is a fraction of a second.
I've been caught off-guard too many a times that it annoys the living daylights out of me. One can pack an arsenal full of caffeine in one's system, only to find the playful flirting of Sleep more alluring.
The best part of it all is that you only realize when you're already too far too deep. Cut me some slack lah, Mr. Sandman.

the best thing to do is to fully embrace Sleep - go out of the class, find a secluded place e.g. surau, and sleep there.
rather than nodding your head alternating between two states of consciousness in which you don't get to sleep AND focus, it's better to get one i.e. sleep than lose two.
Fighting sleepiness can give you a severe headache...so succumb to it and enjoy. Jolted out of it (like when your head jerked backward too far) will cure due the massive embarrassment felt.
sop - you might actually have a point there...will take into consideration
anonymous - i have developed a technique that allows me to doze off in a perfect posture. Hohoho.
And how would you know that you had maintained that perfect posture all along? Hehehe...

anonymous - most of the time, I've been told that I remain quite still. But then, other times, I just entertain everybody else with my incessant head bobbing.
