That One Chime

Waiting for that one chime proved to be difficult. The seconds seemed excruciatingly long, let alone the minutes that fleeted.

It's been hours since, and that killed him inside. Myriads of questions swarmed him, and yet it was always that one answer that resonated as reason the most.

Nobody cared

In the midst of all this mess that hinted futility, a small part of him decided to be resolute. To seek that which had been missing for so long. Until he received the answer that would either make him whole, or break him apart.

And that one chime carried with it expectations that could last for a lifetime.

At the very least, it would be suffice until the sound of the next chime.
