How the Word "Kot" Makes Me Feel

The title itself reveals what the mood of this entry will be.

Emo.

That's right. Me annoyed and me want to express before me turn into green ugly monster.

It has come to my attention that the phrase "kot" (a phrase in Bahasa Melayu which is used to expresses unsureness) is used more and more these days amongst young Malaysians in general. It is often repeated perpetually at the end of a sentence that it becomes increasingly irritating. Not because of the "ad nauseam" effect of it all, but rather the tone that it insinuates.

The phrase "kot", originally used at the convenience of the Malay language user to express doubt, has much evolved into a term that suggests sarcasm. Demonstrated flawlessly by almost everyone around me that I know, the word "kot" now may mean "obviously, *you bloody idiot!".

To make matters interesting, such is the tone of the uttered sentence that it enforces the strong and repugnant hidden meaning of this word. One would sometimes honestly wonder if he/she is truly in doubt when it turns out that one is actually being mocked in secret.

Regrettably, it is no secret anymore.

I am a victim of this verbal harassment, and this is my story.

*optional vocabulary to aggravate

Haha. But the excessive usage is just unbelievable! Sometimes I'm like do you not know or are you just using "kot" as a slang?Stop confusing me!

But you can probably tell from the tone anyway.

Duh is different. It's a sure way of sarcasm.
